President Donald Trump on Monday challenged pharmaceutical companies to “justify the success” of their COVID-19 drugs, days after the FDA limited vaccines to those at higher risk of severe illness.
Trump criticized the lack of public transparency on vaccine data, saying drugmakers have shown him “extraordinary” results but keep them from the public.
His remarks follow the firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez and the resignation of four other top officials, amid Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s sweeping shakeup of federal health agencies.
Former CDC leaders warned that Kennedy’s actions are threatening public health and America’s health security.
