Costco has expanded its healthcare offerings to include GLP-1 weight loss drugs like Ozempic for its US members through its low-cost healthcare partner Sesame. The program, priced at $179 for three months, offers a consultation with a weight loss specialist, and prescription if deemed appropriate, and ongoing support.

However, the cost of medication is separate and can range from $950 to $1,600 per month without insurance.

Costco’s move aligns with the growing popularity of GLP-1 drugs, with over nine million prescriptions written in the last quarter of 2022 alone.

JPMorgan researchers estimate that by 2030, around 9% of the American population could be taking GLP-1 drugs.

Other companies, like WeightWatchers and luxury gyms such as Life Time and Equinox, are also tapping into the trend by offering similar services or tailoring programs for individuals on these medications.
