The next planetary alignment is expected in June|Public domain

In a rare alignment five planets—Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus and Mars—will line up near the Moon and will be visible in the night sky throughout the week.

But today, it will be easiest to see them by looking to the western horizon right after sunset.

Such alignment of planets is called a “planetary parade.” It occurs in different numbers and groups from time to time. Last summer’s five planets that lined up were Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

The next planetary parade is expected in June.
