Physicist Ranga Dias, from the University of Rochester, faces skepticism from fellow researchers over his claim of discovering a room-temperature superconductor, accusing him of fabricating data and plagiarizing his PhD thesis.

In March, Dias and his team made headlines in the journal Nature with their research on the rare-earth metal lutetium. The metal combined with nitrogen and hydrogen, created a superconductor at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, which they dubbed “reddmatter”.

However, multiple physicists and labs have attempted to replicate the results, questioning the validity of the results and have added doubts surrounding his credibility.
