World chess champion Magnus Carlsen explicitly accused Hans Niemann of cheating for the first time on Monday, a claim denied by the American Grandmaster.

In a statement on Twitter, Carlsen said he believed that the 19-year-old “cheated more — and more recently — than he has publicly admitted,” but did not provide any evidence.

Niemann—who had previously acknowledged that he had cheated online twice—has accused Carlsen of trying to ruin his career.
