The 2024 Olympic and Paralympic medals will contain pieces of the iconic Eiffel Tower, organizers revealed yesterday.
The central hexagon-shaped pieces—weighing 18 grams—of the gold, silver and bronze medals have been forged out of scrap iron taken from different parts of the monument and replaced during refurbishments.
The addition commemorates 100 years since Paris last hosted the Olympic Games.
