Sports broadcaster ESPN announced its long-anticipated streaming service, which will be called ESPN.

It will offer ESPN’s content, cable network programs, documentaries, and more, for $29.99 a month.

Customers can also choose a $35.99 monthly bundle of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN. However, analysts wonder if Americans will shell out an extra $30 monthly to watch sports.

Cord-cutting has become more common; cable-free households are spending an average of $69 a month on streaming subscriptions, according to Deloitte’s 2025 report. It is still cheaper than the $122 average cable bill, but is climbing.

Moreover, ESPN is already available via other streaming bundles. However, Chairman Jimmy Pitaro is optimistic that the app “will help fans cut through the clutter” and aims to hook “the 60 million households on the sidelines.”

The ESPN app comes after years of cable television trying to break into sports streaming. The channel’s Venu Sports app launch, a joint venture with Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery, was blocked by a judge last August.
