Golf legend Tiger Woods has ended his partnership with Nike, concluding one of the richest sponsorships in the sport. Struck in 1996, the deal reportedly earned Woods $500 million over 27 years.

The endorsement expired in 2023, and several rumors have been swirling about the golf pro’s next move. Possibilities include starting a brand with TaylorMade or creating an entirely new one.

At a recent match, Woods was spotted not in Nikes but in FootJoy golf shoes.

Even though Nike’s golf equipment division closed down in 2016, it remains committed to the sport, even though the brand has suffered a decline in its golf-related sales. The company’s annual revenue has grown to $51.22 billion, with basketball and running dominating its sales.

Wood’s departure follows Australian professional golfer Jason Day leaving Nike for the Malbon brand. It leaves Nike’s long-term presence in golf uncertain.
