Amazon is also launching a new agentic AI team to create robots that follow natural language commands
Amazon may soon deliver your packages using humanoid robots.
According to The Information, the tech giant is developing AI software that allows robots to ride in Rivian electric vans and drop off packages at doorsteps.
Real-world testing could begin soon at a San Francisco facility designed like a “humanoid park,” complete with an obstacle course and a training van.
The ecommerce giant is also launching a new agentic AI team to create robots that follow natural language commands, aiming to replace rigid systems with flexible robotic assistants.
The company is already testing a bot from Agility Robotics called “Digit” and plans to try several other models, including a $16,000 robot from China-based Unitree.
With hundreds of thousands of people involved in getting your packages to your home today, Amazon aims to automate every aspect of the delivery process, from the warehouse to the doorstep. The company has also been experimenting with self-driving cars since acquiring robotaxi firm Zoox in 2020.
