Meta is committing to spending tens of billions of dollars to buy millions more of Nvidia’s newest AI chips to power its growing US data centers.

The news pushed shares of both companies higher. The purchases include Nvidia’s Grace CPUs, Blackwell GPUs, and upcoming Vera Rubin systems.

Meta will use some of the chips to run AI systems, not just train them. This marks a shift toward inference, enabling AI tools to respond to users in real time.

Financial details were not shared. However, Meta is expected to spend about $135 billion on AI this year. Across the industry, major tech companies are set to spend around $650 billion on data centers in 2026.

The deal shows strong demand for AI computing power and strengthens Nvidia’s position at the center of the AI boom.
