Meta has decided to continue VR support for its social app Horizon Worlds, reversing an earlier plan to drop it from Quest headsets.

CTO Andrew Bosworth confirmed the move after users expressed disappointment online.

Earlier, Meta had said the app would shift to web and mobile only by June 15, but quickly rolled back the decision. The change highlights ongoing struggles in the VR space.

Meta’s Reality Labs division has lost $73 billion since 2021, while Quest headset sales fell 16% year-over-year, according to IDC.

The company is now focusing more on mobile, where Horizon Worlds shows stronger growth. The app has reached 45 million downloads globally, including 1.5 million in 2026—a 53% annual rise.

However, user spending remains low at just $1.1 million, raising concerns about long-term profitability.
