The September updates to Apple’s operating systems—iOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 12, etc.—will be named iOS 26, macOS 26, and so forth, Bloomberg reports.

The change, expected to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9, aims to simplify branding across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro devices.

The move mirrors naming strategies from Samsung and Microsoft.

Apple has different numbers of their products’ software systems because their initial versions didn’t debut at the same time.

Alongside the renaming, Apple will introduce a new interface, internally referred to as “Solarium.”

Key features include a live-translation mode for AirPods, AI-powered health and battery tools, a new calligraphy pen, a gaming app, and support for a bidirectional Arabic–English keyboard.

Apple will also open its AI technology to developers and make iPads work more like Macs.
