Apple is actively looking at changing Safari
Apple’s senior vice president of services, Eddy Cue, disclosed yesterday that the company is “actively looking at” changing Safari and bringing AI-powered search to the browser.
Bloomberg reported that the revelation came when Cue testified in a DOJ lawsuit against Alphabet over a $20 billion a year deal between Apple and Google that made Google the default app for search queries.
Cue also noted that last month searches in Safari went down for the first time, primarily due to users depending on AI.
The announcement is bad news for Google, whose ad business relies significantly on iPhone customers using its search engine. Alphabet shares declined on the news.
