OpenAI announced yesterday that Instacart CEO Fidji Simo will join the AI startup as the company’s chief of applications; Sam Altman will remain the CEO, according to his blog.

Altman will continue to see all pillars of the ChatGPT maker, including compute and applications.

Simo was instrumental in taking the grocery delivery company public last year. She will join the tech company later this year and is already on OpenAI’s board.

Instacart said that the company’s new CEO will be announced soon and that Simo will also remain Chair of the Instacart Board to support the new CEO.
