Flyers beware of airline malvertisements

Travelers looking for last-minute flight bookings, beware. Several airline numbers shown in Google’s top results are from scammers who try to get money through calls.

The malvertising was made evident by a Delta Air Lines customer recently. The manipulation of online search results through ads on legitimate web pages and networks is called malvertising.

A quick search on Tuesday showed that Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Air France, and others had incorrect phone numbers listed too.

Google spokesperson said in an email statement that the company does not “tolerate” such activities and that the issue has been fixed.
