Anthropic has confirmed that none of its current models have crossed the RSI threshold yet

Claude chatbot developer Anthropic revealed in its recent IPO filing documents that it is nearing the threshold of creating a model capable of recursive self-improvement (RSI), a stage at which AI systems could train and improve themselves.

RSI would trigger a rapid, dramatic acceleration in AI’s capabilities, which critics view as a catastrophic tipping point where artificial intelligence could slip beyond human control.

However, optimists see it as a powerful driver of productivity and scientific discovery.

Some argue that while Anthropic has confirmed that none of its current models have crossed the RSI threshold yet, such bold disclosures in an S-1 filing could double as marketing.

Anthropic also faces a major political test at the November 3 midterm elections.

While Republicans generally align with President Donald Trump’s backing of the technology, victories for AI-skeptic Democrats in Congress or key governor races could increase regulatory pressures, particularly in data center expansions.
