All three New York area airports were reporting an average delay of 30 minutes
Thanksgiving travel across the country encountered early disruptions as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) briefly halted flights at LaGuardia and Newark, two of America’s busiest airports, on Wednesday.
The FAA also imposed a longer ground stop at John F. Kennedy International Airport from 6:45 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., and all three New York area airports reported average delays of about 30 minutes.
Bad weather added further strain, with Chicago O’Hare facing hour-plus delays and Miami about 30 minutes due to storms.
These travel bumps come as the aviation industry expects its busiest Thanksgiving period in 15 years. Airlines for America predicts 31 million air travelers for the holidays.
