The US Army’s 250th anniversary is today, and Washington DC, is gearing up for its largest military parade in decades. The day is also President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday and Flag Day.

Over 6,000 soldiers and more than 150 military vehicles, including tanks and aircraft, are expected in the parade. A horse cavalry unit and a Blue Heeler dog will also join the display.

While the event is officially a tribute to the Army, President Donlad Trump has long championed the idea of a grand parade to showcase American military power.

The America250 celebrations are estimated to cost between $25 million and $45 million.

US taxpayers will bear most of the expense, though top sponsors. include Oracle, Amazon, Coinbase, Lockheed Martin, and Palantir.

Critics, including Democrats, are slamming the parade as a vanity project, citing the steep cost. Progressives are planning to hold at least 1,500 “No Kings Day” protests across America on Saturday.
