Universal Orlando’s long-awaited Epic Universe opens Thursday, marking the Comcast-owned conglomerate’s first major US theme park debut in 25 years.
The resort, spanning 750 acres and costing $7 billion, is Universal’s biggest-ever theme park investment.
It features a central hub Celestial Park that branches out to immersive lands, including the Ministry of Magic from the Harry Potter franchise, the Isle of Berk of the How to Train Your Dragon films and a Super Nintendo World. Single-day tickets start at $139.
The Epic Universe is expected to draw massive crowds and supercharge Orlando, Florida’s tourism, which already boasts Disney parks.
Disney and Universal have ramped up their resort and theme park ventures over the past years.
Universal’s 2010 debut of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter land boosted its theme parks’ attendance by 36% that year.
