Apple reversed its 2020 decision to ban Fortnite game maker Epic Games from launching its own app store on iOS in Europe, allowing users to download and play the game too.

The move comes just a day after the EU’s new Digital Markets Act (DMA) took effect. The policy requires Apple to change its app store practices to allow alternative app marketplaces and payment methods.

Apple’s decision also follows recent controversies, including a record-high $2 billion fine from the European Commission for antitrust violations related to its app store policies.

The decision garnered satisfaction from EU officials, emphasizing the significance of the DMA in holding tech giants accountable for anticompetitive behavior.
