Epic Games argues that Google forces game developers to pay 15%–30% share for in-app purchases|Deka Chavid|CC BY-NC 2.0

Fortnite developer Epic Games’ antitrust case against Google, accusing the tech giant of abusing its power over payments, kicked off a jury trial yesterday.

Similar to its lawsuit against Apple earlier this year, Epic argues that Google routes customer payments for in-app purchases through its platform, forcing developers to pay 15%–30% share of the revenue.

Google, which is facing a second antitrust trial in two months, contends its revenue-sharing model is justified.

The trial is ongoing in San Francisco, and the key witnesses include Google CEO Sundar Pichai, as well as Apple, Netflix, Motorola, Android and AT&T executives.
