Alex Jones filed for personal bankruptcy Friday after a court ordered him to pay nearly $1.5 billion to the Sandy Hook victims’ families for spreading false claims that the 2012 school shooting was a hoax.

According to court documents, the Infowars host listed $1 billion to $10 billion in liabilities and $1 million to $10 million in assets. Jones's primary company, Free Speech Systems, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July.

Apart from the $1.5 billion in damages, in a separate case, a Texas court in August ordered him to pay $49 million to the parents of a child killed in the massacre.
