The United States and Iran exchanged fresh military strikes for the 10th straight day, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
The US said it targeted Iranian military command centers, launch sites and air defense systems after Iran attacked American bases in Kuwait and Jordan.
President Donald Trump vowed a strong response, saying Iran would pay many times over for every American soldier killed.
As the fighting escalated, the Pentagon said nearly 100 American service members have been injured since July 7. Spokesperson Sean Parnell said most suffered minor concussions, and 96% have already returned to duty.
At least 18 US service members have died in the months-long Iran war, including three killed since fighting resumed last week.
The conflict is also spilling into key shipping routes. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels threatened to block vessels in the Red Sea, putting Saudi oil exports at risk. Saudi Arabia said it would protect commercial shipping, while the UK reported attacks on two ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan and Qatar are continuing, but no ceasefire has been reached.
