Amid mounting economic, trade and human rights concerns between China and the US, Chinese President Xi Jinping met top American executives on Wednesday.

State broadcaster China Central Television reported that Xi emphasized China’s ongoing efforts to enhance its business environment and urged increased collaboration between the two nations.

Notable attendees at the meeting included top leaders from Qualcomm, Broadcom, Blackstone, Chubb and FedEx.

Xi also struck an optimistic tone, highlighting the past economic resilience of China.

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell engaged in discussions with Chinese officials, emphasizing the importance of open communication amidst geopolitical strains.

Bilateral trade between the US and China reached $575 billion in 2023.
