Chinese President Xi Jinping denied China’s involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict but emphasized its commitment to peace during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron yesterday.

His comments came after the US expressed concerns about Chinese exports aiding Russia’s defense industry.

Xi defended China’s trade with Russia as normal bilateral relations and reiterated commitments not to send weapons to Moscow. He also called for a global Olympic truce and a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

His six-day Europe trip comes amid rising trade concerns between China and Europe.

Stops include Serbia and Hungary, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of NATO’s bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade.
