The US and Iran exchanged fresh attacks for a second straight day on Wednesday night, ending an eight-week ceasefire and fueling fears of a wider Middle East war.
While speaking at the NATO summit in Turkey, President Donald Trump declared the interim agreement to end the war was “over,” and warned that more US military action could follow.
He also dismissed negotiations with Tehran as “a waste of time” and threatened to return the US naval blockade.
Iran responded by firing missiles and drones toward Kuwait and Bahrain, both home to US military bases. Kuwait said its air defenses intercepted the attacks, while Bahrain urged residents to seek shelter. No casualties were immediately reported.
The conflict has disrupted global shipping, with the UN maritime agency saying around 6,000 seafarers remain stranded near the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Brent crude climbed to $77.53 a barrel as investors reacted cautiously, while ongoing security risks in the Strait of Hormuz kept market volatility elevated.
