US warplanes downed in Iran; two crew rescued

Two US military aircraft went down during operations against Iran, with two crew members rescued and a third still missing, according to officials and media reports.

One crew member from a downed F-15E jet has been recovered, while the other’s status remains unknown. Rescue efforts are ongoing. Reports from April 3, including The New York Times and Reuters, say Iran shot down the aircraft.

In addition, an A-10 Thunderbolt, widely known as the Warthog, went down, though its sole pilot was successfully rescued, according to reports citing US officials.
