Iran, communicating through Pakistan, demanded an immediate end to the conflict, an end to sanctions, the release of frozen assets, and full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz
Global oil prices climbed sharply after President Donald Trump said he didn’t like Iran’s response to the US’s peace plan.
Iran, communicating through Pakistan, demanded an immediate end to the conflict, guarantees against future US-Israeli strikes, war reparations, an end to sanctions, the release of frozen assets, and full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz before advancing the talks.
It also rejected US demands to dismantle its nuclear facilities and instead proposed temporary limits on uranium enrichment.
On Truth Social, Trump called the response “totally unacceptable”.
The country’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, declared Tehran would “never bow” to pressure.
Brent crude rose 4.1% to $105.50 a barrel, while US crude approached $100, reflecting growing fears over prolonged instability in the Middle East.
