The Trump administration has paused several bans on Chinese firms, mainly in technology companies, ahead of the high-stakes meeting between President Donald Trump and China’s Xi Jinping in April.

The US paused a ban on China Telecom’s domestic operations and postponed restrictions on Chinese equipment used in American data centers.

Other stalled measures include a proposed sales ban on TP-Link routers and a block on Chinese-made electric trucks and buses.

The move follows an October trade truce in which China pledged to delay export restrictions on critical rare-earth minerals.

While the administration frames these decisions as necessary to defuse trade tensions, security experts and Democratic lawmakers, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, warn that pausing these curbs would give Beijing leverage.
