Brazil gets a new president. Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva, known as Lula, narrowly defeated his far-right opponent Jair Bolsonaro to become the country’s next president.

But by Sunday night the incumbent had not conceded defeat, raising concerns he may contest the result.

The election, considered to be an important one in decades, saw a tight race. The leftist leader won the election with 50.9% of the votes, marking a stunning comeback.

Lula couldn’t participate in the 2018 election that Bolsonaro won as he was serving a 22-year sentence for corruption charges.
