In the wake of the Texas mall shooting that killed 9, President Joe Biden on Sunday called on Congress to pass gun control bills.

He urged Congress to enact tighter restrictions on firearms and ammunition.

President Biden said the assailant at Allen Premium Outlets mall in Allen, who also got killed in a northern suburb of Dallas, wore tactical gear and was armed with an AR-15 weapon.

Mauricio Garcia, the 33-year-old gunman, was shot by a police officer.

Mass killings have happened at a frequency of about one per week this year.
