Louisiana shooting leaves eight children dead

A father killed eight children, including seven of his own, in a mass shooting in Louisiana early Sunday, in what police described as a domestic violence incident.

The children were aged between 1 and 14, and were shot across multiple homes, with seven found dead in one house.

Authorities identified the attacker as Shamar Elkins, the father of several victims. Police said the suspect fled, carjacked a vehicle, and led officers on a chase before they shot and killed him.

Officials called it one of the deadliest incidents in the city’s history, leaving families and the wider community in deep grief.
