Authorities have identified Tyler Robinson, 22, as the suspect in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who is in custody on suspicion of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm.
Investigators revealed that unfired bullet casings found near the gun believed to be used in the shooting bore anti-fascist messages, suggesting a possible political motive. The investigation continues as officials examine the rifle and other potential evidence.
Robinson’s arrest comes after his father recognized him in photos released by authorities.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson was captured within 33 hours, thanking the family for doing “the right thing.” The investigation is ongoing.
He also stated Robinson appeared to have been radicalized in a “fairly short amount of time,” despite coming from a seemingly stable background.
