As the summer sun is rising, so is the eagerness to travel. After all, we were homebound for the past two years—when we canceled all plans, visits, vacations, and much more.

We have a lot of making up to do.

According to JPMorgan, credit card spending on airline tickets surpassed 2019 levels.

The reasons
Americans want to travel. They have saved enough in the past two years and now want to spend. The rise in domestic ticket sales is a perfect indicator of this.

Easing travel restrictions, settling infection rates, and vaccination also play a major role in pushing people to venture out and travel.

Unclear skies ahead
But all is not bright and sunny. Airline staff shortages and the lack of ground personnel are making it harder for people to have a good time.

Flight cancellations and surging car rentals also contribute to the havoc on plans. Hotel and short-term rental rates, however, are holding better—bringing a wave of relief for vacation goers.

Experts advise travelers to choose airlines wisely, fly mid-week, and book in advance to enjoy a stress-free vacation.
