Novo taps Claude AI for drug research

Ozempic maker Novo Nordisk has partnered with AI firm Anthropic to accelerate drug research and development.

The drugmaker will utilize Anthropic’s Claude Science tool to speed up medicine discovery, navigate complex biological research, and enhance software development.

The deal places Novo alongside competitors like Eli Lilly, Merck, and Roche in betting heavily on AI. The Danish company also has partnerships with ChatGPT maker OpenAI and Amazon Web Services.

While AI has yet to yield a fully approved drug, pharmaceutical firms report significant efficiency gains in using it in research, analyzing large datasets, and running human studies.
