The Trump administration has eased restrictions on Anthropic’s AI model, restoring access to Mythos 5 for 100+ US organizations, including several Fortune 500 firms.

The decision follows two weeks of discussions between Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and company executives to address national security concerns raised after Amazon researchers found a way to bypass safeguards in Anthropic’s AI systems.

Chief Executive Dario Amodei said the company is working closely with the government to expand access to Mythos 5 and eventually make its Fable 5 model available again for broader public use.

The restrictions marked one of the federal government’s strongest interventions in the AI industry. The uncertainty has also affected competitors, with OpenAI delaying the public release of its GPT-5.6 models as the White House develops new AI security rules and evaluation standards.
