The world’s richest man has emerged as a major financial force in the upcoming midterm elections, directing more than $276 million toward Republican political groups since July, according to the New York Times.
His spending comes as Republicans work to protect their control of Congress ahead of November’s elections.
Musk’s biggest contribution, $158 million, went to the Senate Leadership Fund, which supports Republican Senate candidates. He also donated more than $76 million to America PAC, a political group he founded to support voter outreach.
Additionally, the SpaceX CEO contributed $20 million to a group backing House Republicans, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.
Musk’s disclosed federal political donations for the 2025-26 election cycle have reached approximately $366 million, surpassing the $290 million he spent during the 2024 presidential election.
The spending marks a reversal of his earlier promise to reduce political contributions. Musk has also rebuilt his relationship with President Donald Trump.
