Pence is officially in the presidential race

Former Vice President Mike Pence officially filed paperwork Monday for his candidacy and joined a crowded field of Republican candidates seeking the 2024 presidential nomination.

His run pits him in direct competition with former President Donald Trump, who was also his boss. Pence split with Trump after the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol.

The 63-year-old will officially begin his campaign in Iowa on Wednesday.
