Six months into his second term, President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown is losing public support, despite being a central campaign promise.
A CBS News poll conducted in June shows 56% of Americans believe the administration is targeting non-dangerous migrants, up from 47% a month ago.
Approval for Trump’s immigration policies has dropped to 49%, down from 59% in February. His overall job approval also dipped to 42%.
Despite this decline, Republican support remains high—91% back the deportation efforts. In contrast, only 41% of independents and 14% of Democrats support them.
Criticism has intensified over viral videos showing masked ICE agents making street arrests, which may be fueling the shift in public opinion.
