Nike is reportedly set to secure an eight-year, eight-figure sponsorship deal with the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft, Caitlin Clark. The agreement, worth up to $28 million, ranks as the most competitive in women’s basketball history.

Compared to the stellar Nike deal, Clark’s rookie contract with the Indiana Fever will pay her just over $76,000 in her first season, with total earnings of $338,056 over four years.

Although she stands to earn additional income through marketing deals, her salary remains modest compared to rookies in other major sports leagues.

The highest-paid WNBA player, Jackie Young, will earn just over $250,000 this season, while NBA star Steph Curry’s earnings this year dwarf that figure at $51.9 million.
