Mark Zuckerberg introduced the company’s latest VR headset, Meta Quest Pro Tuesday at an event for $1,499—almost 4X the cost of the current headset, the Quest 2.

Meta Quest Pro is designed to deliver more advanced graphics and enhance the user experience.

With new lenses that make it less bulky when compared to the previous headsets, Quest Pro provides mixed-reality features that blend some virtual world elements with the real world.

Despite the new features, Meta’s shares slid down about 4.5% in midday trading, earning a poor response from investors.

One year of Metaverse
It has been a year since Zuckerberg announced the Metaverse with a vision to create a future in the virtual world, and he wants this to work as the development of the metaverse was prompted by declining user interactions on its platforms. But looking at the metaverse’s rocky start, mainly bugs, even company executives think it needs more time to develop.

Meta’s stocks plunged nearly 60% in the past year, with the company halting its hiring process in late September. Zuckerberg has also warned employees of layoffs.

Meta, however, is confident that they’re on the right track in building new, innovative technologies. Its Horizon Worlds boasts around 300,000 monthly active users, and the Quest 2 is the most popular VR headset in the market today.
