Amid reports that OpenAI may leave Europe due to the new AI laws, the man behind ChatGPT, Sam Altman, clarified he has no plans for leaving the EU.

In a tweet, he further said that they are “excited to continue to operate” in the region on Friday.

On Wednesday, while speaking at an event in London, Altman had called the EU’s AI legislation “overregulating” and had further said that the ChatGPT maker may leave the EU.

The proposed EU AI Act could be the first set of rules to govern artificial intelligence. It would require AI companies to reveal the copyrighted materials they use to train their models to create text and images.
