Delta Air Lines raises baggage fees for domestic flights

Delta Air Lines announced this week that it is raising the cost of checking your first bag by 17%, meaning you’ll have to pay $5 more for that initial piece of luggage on domestic flights.

It has become the third major US carrier after American Airlines and United Airlines to make such increases in the past few weeks.

• Delta now charges $35 for the first checked bag—up from $30 previously. 
• The fee for a second checked bag has risen to $45.

Delta explained that this increase is to keep up with rising industry costs.

It is the first time Delta has raised its bag fees since 2018.
