Japan is facing a shortage of its popular Asahi beers since a cyberattack disrupted operations in its 30 factories this week. The attack has affected orders, shipments, and customer call centers.

Asahi is Japan’s largest brewer and also owns global brands like Peroni, Pilsner Urquell, and Grolsch. It says the attack is only on Japanese operations, which account for 50% of its sales.

While emergency shipments and manual processing have begun, major retailers such as 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Lawson, and Life Cooperation are warning of potential shortages.

The company stated that no customer data was leaked and is investigating the ransomware attack. Its stock on the Tokyo exchange fell nearly 12% this week, according to Bloomberg.

Asahi is one of the major consumer brands affected in a string of recent hacking and ransomware attacks this year. Other companies include Jaguar Land Rover and Marks & Spencer.
