The US Justice Department has indicted 94-year-old former Cuban President Raul Castro on charges of murder, destruction of aircraft, and conspiracy to kill Americans.
The charges stem from a 1996 incident where Cuban forces shot down two civilian planes, killing 4 Cuban exiles, including 3 US citizens and 1 US legal resident. Castro was the defense minister at that time.
Five Cuban fighter pilots were also indicted alongside Castro. He is the brother of the late revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.
