Joe Kent, a former US Army and CIA officer, alleges that President Donald Trump is in the war due to Israel’s influence
The Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, announced his resignation on Tuesday, stating he “cannot in good conscience” support the war with Iran and that the country “posed no imminent threat” to the US.
Kent, a former US Army and CIA officer, alleges that President Donald Trump is in the war due to Israel’s influence. His comments echo similar views from conservative political figures like Tucker Carlson.
Trump dismissed Kent as “weak on security” and asserted that “Iran was a tremendous threat.”
US sites are increasingly targeted in the Middle East
Sources reported that a drone attack targeted the US Embassy in Baghdad on Wednesday, with explosions heard near the area. It follows a Tuesday incident where at least three explosive drones were launched at a US facility near Baghdad International Airport.
The conflict with Iran has already resulted in the deaths of 13 US service members and 200 injuries, with thousands of casualties in the Middle East nation, including its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and top military commanders.
