The United States and Iran offered contradicting statements Tuesday over whether Tehran had agreed to permit UN inspections of its nuclear facilities, adding uncertainty to efforts to secure a lasting peace deal.

President Trump maintained that Iran will permit nuclear inspectors to enter the country as part of a US-brokered deal to end the war, despite Tehran’s claims otherwise.

Despite the disagreement, both sides continued talks in Switzerland to secure a long-term peace agreement.

Meanwhile, international maritime officials announced plans to move about 11,000 stranded seafarers through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route.

Iran also reaffirmed it would not negotiate its missile program as regional tensions remain high.
