The US and Germany may take decisions today about sending their much sought-after battle tanks—M1 Abrams and Leopard 2—to support and boost Ukraine’s military capability in the war.
Recently, Germany had indicated it would send German-made Leopard 2 tanks to support Ukraine if the US sent its M1 Abrams tanks. American and German officials have indicated a coordinated announcement might be made from both sides.
The US is expected to send as many as 30 tanks as part of its Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative package.
