North Korea fired more than 20 missiles under Kim Jong-un’s leadership, one of which landed 37 miles (60 km) off South Korean waters prompting Seoul to respond with its air-to-ground missiles.

South Korean missiles crossed the Northern Limit Line (NLL) and landed at a similar distance, per officials.

Later, on Wednesday, North Korea fired a barrage of artillery shells into an eastern maritime buffer zone—created in 2018.

The latest escalation in military activity comes after Pyongyang demanded the United States and South Korea stop large-scale military drills.
