The United Nations strongly condemned the shelling at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is under Russia’s control, over the looming risk of a nuclear disaster.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said over a dozen explosions shook the continent's largest nuclear power plant, warning that the responsible party is “playing with fire!”

Neither Ukraine nor Russia took responsibility for the action, resuming their blame game for the blasts.

Russian troops seized control over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant shortly after the country began its invasion of Ukraine. The power plant is located 300 miles from Chornobyl, the nuclear power plant known for the world’s worst nuclear catastrophe.
